The seas are extremely smooth and the weather not too hot so it is a good day at sea. At lunch time, Captain Mario announced that because of the delay leaving Bali, it was unlikely that we would be on time to the Sandakan pilot station. And if we were late, we would not be able to enter the port because of the sand bar that is only navigable at high tide. He said he would tell us more the next day.
Duplicate bridge was good as Jan and Ann came in third.
Tonight is Jimbo’s Truck Stop Dinner at La Veranda. They move some of the tables for a dance floor, the staff dresses up like “trailer trash”, i.e. cigarettes behind their ears, sloppy clothes. We could dress down wearing jeans if we wished. Food was truck stop type food, i.e. meatloaf, hamburgers, fish sticks, fried chicken, pizza, steak, etc.
We sat at a table with people we had not met but enjoyed meeting. As we finished dinner, Jamie, who was dressed as the owner/cook, Jimbo (Dana was Jimbo’s bimo), turned on rock and roll music for dancing. It was the kind of dancing where you really didn’t need a partner and the waiters had been encouraged to dance with guests. So Jan had a great time dancing with Jayson and Adam, two of the La Veranda staff for a lot of dances. She had a great time and was really over-heated by the time the music was done!
Although the Platters (really a licensed impersonator group) were on the stage tonight, Jan was too tired and hot to go to the show. They will be back so we can see them at least once.
